One of the earliest known settlers of Kongunadu,The Irula tribesmen marked their territory.Their fearless leader Kovan walked around his Newfoundland in stoic pleasure.He would make this land the hub of Irula activity..and he would call it “Kovanpatti”Later on,his tribe would be vanquished and this land passed on from one ruler to the next and during the ages of its many conquerors namely the Rashrakutas,The Cholas,Pandyas,Cysalas,Madurai sultans and the Vijayanagara kings,and finally the rulers of mysore and then passed onto the British ,Kovans name Kovanpatti stayed on, the forests around this land over time was cleared and a new village arose..Kovanputhur.And when this village was conquered by the British,they as usual,couldn’t pronounce the name..hence uttering..”Coimbatore..?”There is also the theory that a tribe called the Kosars made it their home so it was called “Kosambathur”.Today, Coimbatore stands as one of the most industrialised and flourishing cities in South Asia.Coimbatore is the third largest city in Tamil Nadu with a population of more than fifteen lakh people.          The industrial might of Coimbatore and  entrepreneurship of its people are the highlights of the city.Coimbatore and its neighbours namely tirupur is named as the Manchester of the south because of
